The new Comprehensive Affordable Multifamily Retrofits (CAMR) program delivers utility bill savings and access to energy-efficient retrofits for owners of low-income, multifamily properties and their tenants. The $75 million program provides participants significant financial incentives and technical assistance to help them save energy and reduce costs.
CAMR’s free property assessments help property owners identify efficiency opportunities. Assistance with work scope development and the contractor procurement process are also available.
Participants earn incentives based on their property’s reduction of greenhouse gases, resulting from efficiency upgrades implemented both in common areas and inside tenants’ units. Additional incentive opportunities for the installation of on-site solar photovoltaic systems may also be available to properties that achieve more than 10% energy savings.
To participate, a property must consist of five or more units. The property must be located in a Disadvantaged Community (DAC) and meet the program’s affordability requirements, as well as install efficiency upgrades that will result in at least a 10% increase in energy savings. Properties located outside of a DAC may be eligible to participate by meeting other program eligibility requirements.
